Digital identity is the future. We know this.
But is it wallet-based? Is it wearables? Does it live in a metaverse? In a game?
The most likely answer is: any or all of these.
And along with digital identity will come loyalty programs. Programs that could have more flair than the points at your local sandwich shop or coffee hub, though.
Why? Because, as in the Feb 2nd Nerd Alert, customers want 4 things in a loyalty program—and web3 has the potential to deliver them all, through the broad and compelling lens of digital identity:
Value: is it worth my time and money?
Excitement: loyalty rewards can draw attention to a brand
Convenience and Clarity: if it’s hard to understand/interact with, they won’t care
Social Currency: people want to feel they’re winning, to feel success
Since rewards could become part of digital identity, rewards programs have the potential to be a significant onboarding device.
One of the best ways to get people to change is to reward them. Rewards make change stick. They reassure someone that a change is good, and worthwhile.
Just think of future rewards programs as little pieces of flair, for your digital identity.

Flux is coming. 👀
Nerd Alert Jan 30th: Tezos. Tezos is one of the earliest proof of stake networks. It was created with functionality to allow it to scale, and has become a top choice for artists and the art community due to low fees for gas and for collections. Tezos makes it easy to support smaller or upcoming artists and photographers.
WarDaddyCapital joined on Jan 31st to talk about NFT finance & lending. The market right now is very borrower-centric, due to the price volatility risk lenders take on when lending against NFTs. Floor prices can experience big swings over loan periods of 14-30-60-90 days. Check out this thread for more:
Silentmode provided additional perspective and information in this thread
Have you ever thought about a secondary market for loyalty program points? As web2 companies enter web3, they have an opportunity to use NFTs as a way to reward customers. And to embrace the fact that there’s a secondary market.
Emilyluvscrypto.eth joked about “back alley airline points” on Thursday, and the idea of selling loyalty program rewards. 😆 But she’s onto something.

National Geographic photographer John Knopf joined us on Monday to talk about open editions and artists in web3. Here’s just over a minute-long truth bomb from John, on open editions and why they’re not cash grabs.
TL;DR:
More clarity here from Zeneca on what an “open edition” is:
Tom Greene from Martian Premier League joined on Friday to talk gaming. One-minute audio below on how MPL will onboard players. “Go play it, and tell me this is not fun:”
Forward-thinking on Feb 1st from Bored.eth on digital identity:
“Identity is like fashion: you have an identity in the real world, and you’re wrapping it right now in a punk. And you might change that. The future will need some kind of verification, not just that you own the NFT but that you are you.”
Great gaming conversation on Feb 3rd: see this thread on “What kind of gaming do you think will onboard the most people into web3?”
