Yes, this title comes from an L.A. Laker, and Ryan is a Chicago Bulls fan.
It works, though, because both are brands with significant overlap between their customers and their true fans. And this was such a good topic this week! Unofficial Nerd Alert: 🤓
Customer: has purchased an item or service provided by a brand. They may or may not feel an emotion connection with that brand.
True Fan: deeply invested in a brand, and feels a strong emotional connection to it. Sense of community with other fans. Goes above and beyond for the brand and is willing to pay a premium for its products or services.
Think of it this way: if customers are people who come to your house for a dinner party and have a great time, true fans are the ones who not only have a great time, but also invite their friends over for the next one.
Nike. Apple. Tesla, Disney. Global brands with true fans. Creating true fans goes beyond selling products or services. It’s about emotional connection and meaningful experiences. A sense of community.
